I have teamed up with an amazing charity local to my home town “LoveOliver”. This charity was set up in 2011 in memory of the beautiful Oliver Gill who passed away of childhood cancer on Christmas Day 2010. The charity aims to fund research into childhood cancers and provide practical support to families that are effecting it. After working with the charity to create Christmas cards in 2019, I decided I wanted to do more. I came up with the idea of creating a fun and cheerful character of an animal close to the charities heart. After talking with Jennifer, Oliver’s mum, she told me that Oliver loved monkeys and had a few toy monkeys. He had one that was blue,yellow and orange, which ended up inspiring the charities logo. He also loved stars. This helped me design this painting and I have included his love of stars and the logo colours into the painting. “Oliver’s Monkey” was born. I will be selling prints of this at A4 and A3 size and I will be donating 50% of the sales directly to the charity.
